COMUNICADO FICPV15 INGLES

The International Film Festival of Guadalajara, in its 30th edition (FICG30), opens its arms once again to Puerto Vallarta, destination with the highest projection in terms of tourism and culture of the state of Jalisco.

The 15° International Film Festival of Puerto Vallarta (FICPV) will have a substantial delegation of international statured guests; such is the case of Victoria Abril, guest of honor and cultural movie actress.

Four sections will integrate this edition of the FICPV: the Official Section, the Diversity Section, the Gourmet Section and the Academic Section.

 

15° FICPV
OFFICIAL SECTION

This edition will have the following special Guests: Victoria Abril, guest of honor and actress of Sólo quiero caminar; Maria Sole Tognazzi, director of Viaggio Sola; Deborah Silverer, pianist with a participation Assunta Spina; Vittorio Boarini, who recovered and restored the movie Assunta Spina; and James Mullighan, director of the Cork Film Festival.   
The titles which will integrate this section of the 15th edition FICPV are: The hit producer (Dublin); Viaggio Sola (Italy); Entre México y Cuba todo es bonito y sabroso (Mexico); O outro lado do paraíso (Brazil); Sólo quiero caminar (Spain); Assunta Spina (Italy); El ruiseñor y la noche, Chavela Vargas canta Lorca (Mexico); and Alicia en el país de María (Mexico).

Irland will be present with a shortfilm selection from the Cork Film Festival, which will be introduced by the director James Mullinghan.

The titles which will integrate this shortfilm selection are: Justlikeabitch (Irland); Cutting Grass (Irland); In the Still of the Night (Austria); Festus (USA); The Chicken (Croatia/Germany); and Rockmount (Irland).

2° Edition of Premio Maguey

DIVERSITY SECTION

The FICPV has the honor of presenting the second edition of Premio Maguey, a film recognition that diffuses, supports and promotes the innovating and distinctive cinema; intimate stories that arise around an opened sexual orientation and diversity.

Under the slogan “DUALITIES, DIVERSITY AND SIMILARITY”, this second edition of Premio Maguey presents different projections and special events. 
The section will have the following special guests: Philippe Tasca, distributor of the movies La Vista and En la gama de los grises; Luizo Vega, director of The Material Boy; Flavio Florencio, director of Made in Bangkok; Morgana, Opera singer and protagonist of Made in Bangkok; and Mark Christopher, director of 54: The Director´s Cut.

The titles which will integrate the 2° edition of Premio Maguey are: En la gama de los grises (Chile); La visita (Chile/Argentina); The material boy (France); 54: The director’s cut (USA); and Made in Bangkok (Mexico/Germany).

15° FICPV 
GOURMET SECTION

This section, which will be presented for the first time in the FICPV, combines simultaneos emotions happening at a racing speed of rythm and time; it’s a symbiosis between ingredients and flavors, scents and colors, light and sound across cuisine and cinema. A satisfactory visual, auditive and palate experience.  

The section will have a variety of Chefs as special guests. Its oficial headquarters will be the former Preparatoria Jacobo (Estación Gourmet).

ACADEMIC SECTION

The Huston Cinema and Literature Cathedra, created as a tribute to the film director John Huston in the 50th celebration of the movie Night of the Iguana in 2013, is the result of an agreement between the Centro Universitario de la Costa and the Centro Universitario de Arte, Arquitectura y Diseño of Universidad de Guadalajara with the University College Cork of Irland. It is an academic project that links mexican and international universities and institutional centers offering conferences with recognized guests, presenting themes such as: cinematography, literature and culture.

The University College Cork (UCC) will be present in this edition of the FICPV the following academic events by the profesor Dan O’Connell:
Lecture and workshop: How to make a short film? (Pre producction, production and post-production of a short film). 
The Cork Film Festival (CFF) will hold the lecture Short film marketing and distribution, by James Mullighan, director of the CFF.

Another activity under the festival is A Taste of the Italian Cinema in 100 Movies, with the book presentation of “100 Recetas del Cine Italiano” edited by the Instituto de Ciencias de la Educación (I.C.E.) as a result of the section.

We will also have the book presentation of Hollywood era el cielo from the author Celia del Palacio Montiel, who will project extracts of movies with the actress Lupe Vélez. 
Hollywood era el cielo is a biography made novel of Lupe Vélez, one of the first mexican actrices that triunmphed in cinema. The novel recounts her childhood in

San Luis Potosí, her youth in the Mexico City theaters, her arrival to Hollywood in 1926, her triumphs, her tormented loves, the turblent life she lived and her tragic death. With 70 years of her departure, Lupe Vélez is still a mystery, a mexican icon in the United States and a cultural figure.

The cultural and academic project CINEMA CUC will have a presence during the festival with the projection of a selcted list of clasical italian films during the whole month of march.
